The Revised Vanuatu Labour Mobility Policy 2024 – 2027 was jointly launched on 8th October 2024, by the Minister of Internal Affairs Hon. Andrew Solomon Napuat and the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade Hon. Matai Seremaiah Nawalu.

The government’s ongoing commitment to tackling the changing opportunities and difficulties brought about by labour mobility programs with Australia and New Zealand is reflected in this policy.

The objectives of this policy are to increase employment possibilities, protect the welfare of workers, and produce long-term economic gains for the nation.
This policy lays forth a plan for long-term, sustainable labour mobility, emphasising the need to strike a balance between the advantages of working overseas and the need to uphold the rights of employees and their families.

With a focus on worker welfare and the nation’s long-term development objectives, the government of Vanuatu is determined to maintain its position as a major player in regional labour mobility.

We are excited by this policy as it provides the Vanuatu Government a clear guideline for the upcoming revision of the Seasonal Employment Act and also serves as a useful guide for all stakeholders involved with Labour Mobility to and from Vanuatu.
